Ropinirole

A drug used in the treatment of Parkinson’s Disease, Restless Legs Syndrome and Periodic Limb Movement Disorder.  It is a dopamine agonist stimulating dopamine receptors in the brain.  Major and common side effects include nausea, dizziness, excess sleepiness and Impulse Control Disorder.  In Restless Legs Syndrome it can cause augmentation (worsening) of symptoms over time.  It has the shortest window of clinical effect of the three major dopamine agonists (ropinirole, pramipexole, and rotigotine).
