Positive Airway Pressure

In sleep medicine it is a general term used to describe the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea by breathing air at an increased pressure. The pressure can be constant (Constant Positive Airway PressureCPAP), at two levels of pressure (inspiratory/expiratory – Bi-level – Bi-level Positive Airway Pressure) or variable to assist breathing in more complicated conditions.
