Cheyne Stokes Breathing

A pattern of breathing where effort gradually declines over several breaths, breathing stops for a short period, and the breathing resumes with gradually increasing efforts. The pattern usually repeats itself and may last for a portion of or the whole night of sleep. It is often a sign of congestive heart failure.
